Part 4 of the South Bridge Project blog from John, one of the volunteer team.
After weeks of highly skilled painstaking work the scaffold
and protective covering gone, the formwork struck and removed things are
nearing completion.
One can see the re-formed brick arches in hand made bricks
to tone with the existing hall and the new stone step edges and reveals fitted
snugly, obviously new but ready to receive the restored railings.
Standing back the preserved surround and rebuilt
‘bridge’ proudly show the quality of craftsmanship in our country is alive and
thriving.
