If you want to improve your photography or get crafty this summer and autumn then we have some exciting workshops coming up which you may be interested in. With our peaceful and eye-catching surroundings Beningbrough is the perfect place to get arty and unleash your creativity with the help of some local experts.
From July onwards we will be hosting a series of Willow Weaving Workshops in our American garden. Leilah Vyners from Dragon Willow will be leading the sessions and helping you to create deer sculptures, flowers, angels, baskets and more from the willow she provides. Alternatively, she will also be teaching visitors to carve wooden stools and spoons later the year. All of these creations will be fun to make and a beautiful decoration for your home. Visit www.dragonwillow.co.uk for more information and to book your place.
If you love taking photos and want to learn how to make the most of your camera, a two-part Going Digital workshop will help you to improve your skills. This is a course for people who enjoy photography but are ‘stuck on auto’ with their digital camera. Bring along your camera, any make or model of DSLR, mirrorless compact system or bridge camera and learn the basics of focus, aperture and composition. There is plenty to photograph in Beningbrough’s gardens and parkland to challenge the budding photographer.
In the second workshop you can move on to more advanced techniques including controlling shutter speed, photographing moving objects and mastering manual mode. There is a £10 discount for booking the two together, which you can do here: http://www.goingdigital.co.uk/venues.php?i=311&p=photography-courses-york
For those at a more intermediate level of photography we are pleased to offer another day-long workshop from Land and Light on Wednesday 4th August. This is specifically focused upon landscape photography in the varied and striking surroundings. Professional photographer Doug Chinnery will be teaching you how to improve your compositional skills and use light effectively to produce creative landscape photographs. Lunch and refreshments are included in this day-long event. https://www.lightandland.co.uk/index.php/photography-tours/view/beningbrough-hall-and-gardens
