February half-term Victorian experience

Half term week at Beningbrough is going to be a very Victorian experience with themed games, activities, talks and trails! Weather permitting there'll be plenty of outdoor fun - so wrap up warm! There'll be lots going on indoors too and we hope you'll agree there's something of interest for the whole family!

Victorian games
Come and have a go at the games Victorian children played.
Wooden blocks, shut the box, draughts, snakes and ladders, Noah's arc, dominoes

Try out some of these in our gardens.
Skipping, hoop and stick, cup and ball, giant noughts and crosses, giant hopscotch, giant snakes and ladders. Additional games in the laundry courtyard.

Follow the trail
Fairy trail around the gardens - can you find the hidden fairies?

Story telling
At certain times there will be story telling for younger ones
Indoor stories - fairy tales
Outdoor storytelling sessions in our laurel den

Art activities
One of the following should be available
Artrageous! Make your own Victorian toys.
Self-led activity: cut out and dress a Victorian doll.


Walks and talks
Short talks on the key Victorian features of our Walled and West Formal gardens
Themed hidden house tours: "Portrait of a Victorian Servant"
Visit the Victorian laundry and call in our garden room and see Victorian gardening machinery.

Usual admission charges apply, open every day through half-term from 11 till 3.30pm.
