A sneak peak behind the scenes: decorating the house for Christmas!

A couple of weeks back I heard that a team of staff and volunteers had already started to decorate Beningbrough Hall for Christmas. The theme this year is "John Bourchier's Christmas House of Music," and there's going to be a musical theme throughout the house. We aren't really supposed to be looking till it's all finished, but I couldn't resist going for a sneak peak ...!

John is about to deck the Hall with greenery
There were all kinds of strange and interesting items around in the Great Hall, as well as next door in the Great Staircase Hall (above). "You know that box of Christmas decorations you bring down from the loft every year?" said John, chief Christmas decorator, "Well that's what this is!"

The stairways are going to look amazing when they're all finished (every bow hand tied by Toria)! The Christmas visitors will be walking this way as they go from room to room.

You could already see the musical theme beginning to emerge, and can't wait to see what it'll be like when there's actual music - and dancing - going on too. A real Georgian Christmas celebration!  We hope you'll be visiting us this Christmas to experience it too!

You can visit John Bourchier's Christmas House of Music on the following dates:
3 & 4, 10 & 11, 17 & 18, 26 & 27 December, 11am - 3.30pm
